About Project

Launched in 2016 by Nimble Media in partnership with Women in Rail, The Big Rail Diversity Challenge (BRDC) was created to bring the rail industry together to celebrate teamwork, collaboration and the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Designed as an engaging team building event with a focus on breaking down barriers and encouraging collaboration, BRDC provides organisations across the rail sector with an opportunity to connect, compete and demonstrate their commitment to creating a more inclusive industry.

From the very beginning, Nimble Media has played an integral role in bringing the event to life, managing the full event journey from concept development and marketing through to sales, operations and delivery. Our support has included developing and maintaining the event website, creating and managing digital campaigns, producing engaging social media content and working closely with Women in Rail to grow awareness and participation year after year.

Since launching in 2016, The Big Rail Diversity Challenge has evolved into one of the rail industry’s leading diversity and inclusion events, attracting hundreds of participants from across the sector. Bringing together train operators, infrastructure providers, suppliers, contractors and industry partners, the event has become a key date in the rail calendar for organisations looking to strengthen their teams and champion positive change.

Through strategic marketing, creative content and seamless event management, Nimble Media continues to support the growth of BRDC, helping Women in Rail deliver an impactful event that inspires collaboration, celebrates diversity and creates lasting connections across the rail industry.

Challenge

As awareness of diversity, equity and inclusion continued to grow across the rail industry, Women in Rail identified the need for an event that would bring organisations together in a meaningful and engaging way. The challenge was to create an experience that went beyond traditional networking, providing teams with the opportunity to collaborate, build relationships and celebrate the different skills and perspectives that make the industry stronger.

The Big Rail Diversity Challenge needed to become more than just an event; it needed to be a platform that encouraged positive conversations around diversity and inclusion while creating memorable experiences for participants across the rail sector.

Nimble Media was tasked with supporting every stage of the event journey, from developing the brand and digital presence to driving awareness, generating registrations and managing the sales process. As the event grew, there was a requirement for a strong and consistent marketing strategy that could reach a wider audience, attract new organisations and maintain engagement with existing participants.

A key challenge was creating a digital presence that clearly communicated the purpose and impact of BRDC while making it easy for companies to understand the benefits of taking part. The website needed to showcase the event experience, provide clear information for potential participants and support the registration journey.

Alongside this, BRDC required ongoing creative and social media support to build excitement, highlight previous successes and engage the rail community throughout the year.

Nimble Media’s role was to create a complete solution that combined event management, digital marketing, website development and sales support, helping transform BRDC from a new initiative into one of the rail industry’s leading diversity and inclusion events.

Solution

Nimble Media worked closely with Women in Rail to deliver a complete end-to-end solution for The Big Rail Diversity Challenge, combining event management, digital strategy, creative design and ongoing marketing support.

Our events team took responsibility for bringing the vision of BRDC to life, managing every aspect of the event journey from initial concept development through to final delivery. This included event planning, logistics, venue coordination, supplier management, branding, participant communication, sales support and on-site event management.

Each year, we created an engaging and memorable experience designed to bring teams together through a series of interactive physical, creative and problem-solving challenges. The event was carefully developed to encourage collaboration, communication and teamwork, while ensuring every participant could contribute regardless of role, background or ability.

Beyond the event itself, Nimble Media developed and managed the BRDC digital presence to support the event’s growth and make it easier for organisations to engage. We designed and built a dedicated website that clearly communicated the purpose, benefits and impact of taking part, while providing a seamless user experience for visitors.

The website included bespoke layouts, intuitive navigation, clear calls to action and registration functionality, helping potential participants quickly understand the event and take the next step towards getting involved.

To further increase awareness and engagement, Nimble Media provided ongoing social media management and creative support, producing content that promoted the event, showcased previous highlights, celebrated participants and kept the rail community connected throughout the year.

By combining strategic marketing, digital development and expert event delivery, Nimble Media helped establish The Big Rail Diversity Challenge as a leading industry event that continues to unite organisations and champion diversity across the rail sector.
