CAF UK Newport Factory Opening

HRH Prince of Wales officially opened the CF depot in Newport, South Wales.

On Friday 21st February 2020, Nimble Media Ltd had the honour of being the Event Organisers for the opening of the new CAF Manufacturing Facility in Newport. Officiated by HRH The Prince of Wales, stakeholders, clients and government representatives were invited to witness the grand opening of the site and were taken on tours of the manufacturing site to take a look behind the scenes at how the UK’s future rail fleets are built.

Nimble Media was approached by Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) in 2017 to assist with their marketing and communications strategy for the rolling stock manufacturers UK & Ireland sector. Nimble Media have played a key part in breaking news from the company, including their acceptance to bid for the High Speed Two suppliers contract, their success in securing the order for the next Wales and Borders Rail Franchise and the announcement of their new manufacturing plant being built in Newport, South Wales.

I cannot speak highly enough of the Nimble team, the service from start to finish was exceptional. The team brought refreshing concepts to the table and were an absolute delight to work with. Their impressive attention to detail throughout organising the event resulted in a faultless and momentous day. Thank you Nimble Media - I'm looking forward to our next project together!

What a fabulous event! Such a unique opportunity for teams to have so much fun away from formalised environments. Everyone is on a level in their sports kit and team shirts, no suits or uniforms. The Nimble team did an incredible job and no detail was missed. They created an incredibly fun atmosphere on a massive scale. The room was full of laughter and team spirit. We can’t wait to be there next year- if they will have us!!
Faye Jacques Fundraising Manager Rail, Benefit Fund
We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to you and everyone who organized the fantastic Big Rail Diversity Challenge. We all had a superb experience. As a 55-year-old male I approached the day with caution, but as it went on I threw myself into every event with the enthusiasm of a teenager. LOVED IT.

The Women in Rail Awards were first held to mark the fifth anniversary of the official launch of the Women in Rail group, showcasing and rewarding individuals and companies (large and small) who make a significant contribution to improving diversity and gender balance within the UK rail workforce. In just 8 weeks, the Nimble Media sales and marketing team achieved a complete sell out with 350 rail personnel in attendance from across the UK rail industry, attracting a cross section including key stakeholders and decision makers, infrastructure providers, operators, manufacturers, rolling stock companies, technical consultancy companies and suppliers to name a few.

Whilst the pandemic did not allow us to deliver a live event for 2020, Nimble Media worked with Women in Rail to produce a digital supplement, highlighting the winners and their achievements. The 2020 winners were then invited to join us for a celebration at the 2021 Awards, hosted by Broadcaster and TV Presenter, Naga Munchetty.

In 2022, Gemma Cairney, Broadcaster, Youth Rights Activist and Author welcomed over 700 guests back to the Roundhouse, to celebrate the growing EDI accomplishments within the UK rail industry.

The Steam Special

Railway Children Steam Special, organised by Nimble Media

In June 2015, Nimble Media delivered a special event to commemorate 20 years of excellence for the international charity, The Railway Children – aptly titled, ‘The Steam Special’. As a complete sell-out, all 226 guests aboard the Belmond British Pullman Venice-Simplon-Orient-Express enjoyed a once in a lifetime experience with rousing performances from a variety of well-known acts, including: Scotland’s finest bag-rock band ‘The Red Hot Chilli Pipers’. As the evening drew to a close – the River Thames was closed to mariners as the guests paused on the Grosvenor Bridge to witness a first-class firework display, delivered by the 2012 Olympics pyrotechnics team.

A staggering £283,000 was raised for our chosen charity, Railway Children.

It was a pleasure to work with Nimble Media to deliver a fantastic event raising almost £300,000 for such a worthwhile charity. Their attention to detail was excellent.

The recent Railway Children Steam Special was a fantastic occasion. Nimble Media delivered an impeccable event, they ensured guests were able to relax and enjoy every detail from the reception through to the surprise firework finale. Congratulations to Vicky Binley and her team for your delivery.

Within the charity sector, it is essential to create innovative fundraising ideas, however the real skill often lies in the planning and creativeness to develop these concepts into successful fundraising events.
Nimble Media have successfully achieved both for Railway Children. The innovative team within Nimble had the foresight and tenacity to take a concept and develop it into an incredibly prestigious event, involving The Orient Express, Tornado Engine, Fireworks on the River Thames as the train passes over and so much more, making it an incredibly memorable event for some of the leading individuals and companies from within the Rail Industry. It is thanks to Nimble Media that the event raised £283,000 and marked the charities 20th year via what was the most fitting of occasions.

The Heavies

The Heavies 2016 Winners

An exclusive event which was established to ‘recognise industry excellence’ and reward those organisations (both large and small) that have made a significant contribution to the effective and efficient running of the UK’s heavy and abnormal load industry. The Heavies was launched in March 2015 and honours the achievements of industry operators, escorts, leading figures, manufacturers and suppliers; recognising innovation, outstanding service, efficiency and quality within the sector. This annual awards gala dinner takes place surrounded by some of the very vehicles that keep the industry’s wheels in motion. Delivered by Nimble Media on behalf of HeavyTorque magazine.

Since its launch in 2015 The Heavies continues to go from strength to strength. The Collett Team once again had a fantastic evening surrounded by colleagues and industry professionals celebrating the brightest and best achievements in heavy transport logistics. The Heavies is an event’s must for the haulage industry and we eagerly await the next instalment!
David Collett Managing Director, Collett and Sons Ltd
In all honesty I found the evening fantastic. Very well organised with a great ambiance! What I particularly enjoyed was the perfect balance between the official proceedings and ample networking opportunities. The speeches were short but with enough content, and the winners were certainly given their moment to bask in the glory. We look forward to adding this exciting event to our event calendar in future years!

Station to Station Queens Celebration

Selfie Frames with Virgin Trains as part of Station to Station Queens Celebration

In October 2015, Nimble Media’s Director Vicky Binley met with Chris Leech MBE and was asked to assist in his initiative ‘Station to Station Queens Celebration’, celebrating HR the Queen’s 90th Birthday. With just five months Nimble Media managed, administered and marketed an event the scale of which was a first for the UK’s Rail industry to include:

  • A complex website and social media programme.
  • Engagement with 104 railway stations to host community events to celebrate the Queens 90th birthday.
  • Radio promotion to 3.5 million listeners through Magic FM.
  • On boarding all major UK rail trade member groups to support and promote the initiative.
  • A programme to deliver charity fundraising and awareness activities.
  • Senior rail professional’s endorsement for the event to include the Department for Transport.
  • Recommendation and promotion from politicians and TV Celebrities.
The Queen was most interested and touched to hear about your ‘Station to Station’ event of celebrations, planned by your team to mark this milestone during the weekend of 10-12th June. Her Majesty was also pleased to learn that this project was successful in raising funds for several local and national charities. The Queen sends her good wishes to you and all those involved with the organisation of these special community parties, inspired by the concept of ‘The Patron’s Lunch.
Dame Annabel Whitehead Lady-in-Waiting
I initially came across Nimble Media through discussions of praise from businesses associated to the rail sector. Upon introduction to Vicky Binley, I was taken back by her passion; knowledge and tenacity and therefore given the scale of work we required to take the unique programme of Station to Station to the next level; it was an obvious choice to enlist the Nimble Media's management. Vicky's passion for delivering on her commitments enabled this historic programme to go from boardroom discussions to debate in the Royal Household and finally to the delivery. In short Nimble Media, despite being a small team, have punched well above their weight, their professionalism together with Vicky's ability to communicate on all levels, has earned both the respect and admiration of the entire industry. I have no doubts that Nimble Media will be a force for good within our sector as the year’s progress, as they justifiably win new contracts within the rail sector. Given that my role within the industry is based on integrity and transparency, I for one would have no hesitation in promoting them to my FTS 100 & 200 businesses contacts.
