Since our beginning, Nimble Media have been proud to work with some incredible charities – both locally and nationally. From organising dedicated events on steam trains – to sponsoring the local youth football team – to supporting through vital PR work, Nimble Media have worked closely and built relationships with the amazing people behind these causes and we hope to continue supporting them for many years to come.

Combat Stress: Royal Air Force PTSD

Nimble Media are proud to have sponsored RAF Flight Lieutenant, Ben Wadd, who participated in the Combat Stress fundraiser: The 12 Tri’s of Christmas. Ben’s commitment to the cause saw him complete a double iron-distance (4.8m swim, 224m bike, 52.4m run) during the first 12 days of December.

Combat Stress is the UK’s leading charity for veterans’ mental health. For over a century, they’ve helped former servicemen and women deal with issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, they provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

Barnabus Manchester at Christmas

In 2022, Nimble Media donated money to Barnabus in Manchester, a charity which provides support to those who are homeless through drop-in sessions, warm meals, access to support workers – and so much more – to those who need their services. Nimble Media strongly supports the charity’s  message that “everybody has the right to live in their own home, the right to have friends and family who care, and the right to have a purpose in life. Most of all, […] everybody has a right to love.”

Railway Mission

Nimble Media are proud to support Railway Mission by providing a prize to the 2023 Railway Division Annual Luncheon charity raffle, raising vital funds for the charity and the amazing work they do across the UK, offering pastoral care to the railway community and members of the public affected by incidents on the rail network.

As part of the Railway Division Annual Luncheon 2023, Nimble Media donated a Ferrari and Aston Martin Driving Experience Weekend to the event’s prize raffle draw.

'GlastonLenny'

Nimble Media Ltd are proud to support ‘GlastonLenny’. Lenny Blaik was diagnosed with fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP) at just 2 years old, one of only 70 known people with FOP in the UK. The condition causes human connective tissue, such as ligament, cartilage and tendons, to turn into bone, while broken bones can lead to permanent damage.

As part of ‘GlastonLenny’, a fundraising event organised by Lenny’s parents, Nimble Media donated a helicopter ride experience voucher for the event’s prize raffle.

Out of Hours Club Rutland

Nimble Media Ltd are proud to support Out of Hours Club Rutland – an amazing local organisation which in turn supports local young adults with a whole range of additional needs, enabling them to grow in confidence by providing them with opportunities such as ordering their first drink at a bar, presenting something they’re proud of and developing a circle of friends!

Women in Rail

Nimble Media are proud to support industry charity, Women in Rail, a charity created to improve diversity in the UK rail industry through providing networking opportunities and support for all women within the sector, encourage undertakings and stakeholders to adopt diversity as a business strategy and devising initiatives aimed at positioning rail as an attractive career choice for young people.

In 2016, Nimble Media collaborated with Women in Rail to launch The Big Rail Diversity Challenge, an industry wide event which has adopted the apt tagline: ‘Where Krypton Factor meets It’s a Knockout’. The event hosts over 600 rail industry colleagues, in teams made up of both males and females, competing in a series of mental, physical and skill-based challenges promoting the business benefits attained when engaging a gender diverse workforce.

The event is suitable for all abilities and provides participants with the opportunity to network, team build and fundraise, whilst completing a series of fun gender-balanced team activities promoting Women in Rail’s key message: Gender Diversity: Better for People Better for Business Better for Rail.

Since 2017, The Big Rail Diversity Challenge has raised over £6,000.00 for the charity to continue their important work, by hosting hamper raffles and tuck shops at the event, offering a selection of goodies and treats for the teams to indulge in.

In 2018, we also worked with Women in Rail to launch their own award ceremonies, The Women in Rail Awards; aiming to celebrate, showcase and reward individuals and companies (large and small) who make a significant contribution to improving diversity and gender balance within the UK rail workforce, as well as raising over £28,800.00 in vital funds to continue the charity’s work across the UK rail industry via prize raffle draws held at the annual event.

In 2020, we supported Women in Rail in launching their Reverse Advent Calendar initiative (now ran annually).  Highlighted by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, Nimble Media and Women in Rail encourages colleagues, contacts and social media followers to donate one item for every day of advent to their local foodbank (or refuge).

Railway Children

Nimble Media are proud to support industry charity, Railway Children; an international charity who fight for and support vulnerable children across the UK, India and Africa, saving them and preventing them from enduring abuse and exploitation.

Over the years, Nimble Media have raised money for the charity to continue their work supporting these young people who have nowhere to go and no one to turn to.

In June 2015, Nimble Media raised a staggering £283,000 for the charity by delivering a special event to commemorate 20 years of excellence for the international charity, The Railway Children – aptly titled, ‘The Steam Special’. As a complete sell-out, all 226 guests aboard the Belmond British Pullman Venice-Simplon-Orient-Express enjoyed a once in a lifetime experience with rousing performances from a variety of well-known acts, including: Scotland’s finest bag-rock band ‘The Red Hot Chilli Pipers’. As the evening drew to a close – the River Thames was closed to mariners as the guests paused on the Grosvenor Bridge to witness a first-class firework display, delivered by the 2012 Olympics pyrotechnics team. (See more about this in our events portfolio!)

Railway Children were also our chosen charity at the inaugural Big Rail Diversity Challenge in 2016. A grand prize of dinner for two on board the Belmond British Pullman Venice Simplon-Orient-Express or Belmond Northern Belle. The raffle drew lots of attention from guests on the day, raising £886.00 for the charity.

In January 2019, Nimble Media swapped their warm beds at home for the cold floor of Birmingham New Street Railway Station for Railway Children, helping to raise awareness (as well as vital funds) to continue their support of the hundreds of children who face this ordeal every day around the world. The team rallied friends, family and colleagues to raise £1,435.00!

In 2020, Nimble Media took part in the 2.6 Challenge, an initiative launched to fill the funding gap (or rather, abyss) which opened up when The London Marathon (aka ‘the world’s biggest one-day fundraising event’) was cancelled. Inspiring people from all over the UK to come up with challenges of their choice, it seized our imaginations here at the Home of the Ridiculously creative; some ran for 2.6 minutes, cycled 26 miles, baked 26 cookies and even tried on 26 fancy dress costumes, all to raise vital funds for Railway Children.

In August 2022, Nimble Media donated £200.00 to Ebony Soltani-James who raised money for Railway Children by running the iconic London Marathon.

In 2023, Nimble Media became ‘Red Sponsors’ for #STORMthePeaks – four railway friends who took part in the Porterbrook Three Peaks Challenge By Rail to fundraise for Railway Children. This ‘Super Team of Railway Minglers’ swapped heels for hiking boots – scaling the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales (within 36 hours) to help raise essential funds for the charity.

Transaid

Nimble first met Transaid in 2016, an international development charity that identifies, champions, implements and shares local transport solutions which improve access to basic services and economic opportunity for people in developing countries.

We invited them to become our charity partner at the Heavies awards ceremony, designed to ‘recognise industry excellence’ and reward those organisations (both large and small) that have made a significant contribution to the effective and efficient running of the UK’s heavy and abnormal load industry – raising a fantastic £23,500.00 over the years for the charity.

Transaid are also the Charity Partner of The Big Logistics Diversity Challenge, which has raised over £1,200.00 for the charity through tuck shops and prize draws.

Transaid deliver their own challenge at the event with an underlying message to support their cause. For 2021 and 2022, the Transaid Challenge – titled River Rescue – saw teams ‘traverse the tricky jungle terrain’ to transport a ‘casualty’ across a single-lined stepping stone path to ensure everyone reaches the safety of the field hospital.

Railway Benefit Fund

Nimble Media are proud to support industry charity, the Railway Benefit Fund; a charity that operates across the UK railways, supporting individuals whether they are currently employed within the industry or are retired. The RBF offers a range of financial, legal and advisory services on a short or long term basis; each of which is specifically tailored to each individual’s situation.

Over the years, Nimble Media have raised money for the charity to continue their work including sponsoring raffle prizes at various industry events, including the RBF Annual Dinner. In 2019, Nimble Media were sponsors of the dinner’s Fortune Cookie Game; a fun initiative that saw the charity sell fortune cookies to guests, with one lucky winner holding a golden ticket that won them an exclusive tapas and drinks experience in London.

The RBF are also regular faces at The Big Rail Diversity Challenge, where each year they run their own challenge for teams to compete in, with an underlying message from the charity, such as Bring on the Beans! which saw teams creating makeshift transportation pods for polystyrene beads, which then had to be carried through an inflatable obstacle course.

Corby Kingswood Juniors Football Club

Nimble Media were a proud sponsor of the Corby Kingswood Juniors FC Race Night 2019. Established in 1970 to promote competitive football in Corby and the surrounding area for youngsters from the ages of four to eighteen, Corby Kingswood Juniors FC are one of the leading clubs in the county when it comes to size and stature. A number of their young stars have been accepted into major club training schemes, in the hopes that they will become the Rooney’s of the future!

Harley Staples Cancer Trust

Nimble Media are a proud supporter of the Harley Staples Cancer Trust; a charity set up in memory of Harley Staples, who lost his battle with a rare leukaemia B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia Burkitt type in 2009 aged just 9 years-old.

Harley’s family run two holiday homes, one in Rutland and a caravan in Overstrand, Norfolk – which they offer to other children who are battling with cancer to take a free holiday for up to a week; giving them a much-needed opportunity to relax and escape from hospitals to spend quality family time together, creating memories to cherish forever. These breaks are also available for bereaved parents who have lost a child, providing them with a space to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

For those children unable to leave hospital, they also donate Art and Craft materials, to enable them to have respite whilst still undergoing treatment.

Nimble Media were thrilled to be a raffle prize sponsor at the 2019 Harley’s Summer Party, with the event raising £2000 to enable this amazing charity to continue their fantastic work.
