In a year that has seen us pull together virtually, while required to keep a safe distance physically, we’ve all had to think laterally to stay connected with our loved ones and the wider community. I’m so proud of the way the team here at Nimble (the Home of the Ridiculously Creative) found new ways to keep smiling and stay positive, no matter what.

Giving back to the community is at the heart of what we do here at Nimble Media, alongside our clients, suppliers and colleagues.

Here’s a snapshot of what we got up to…

Rutland Steady Cook

Inspired by the popular BBC cooking game show ‘Ready Steady Cook’, we launched the ‘Rutland Steady Cook!’ scheme, promising to tantalise the tastebuds while spreading some much-needed positivity and support for the hospitality industry during the first national lockdown.

Local eateries were delighted to get involved, sending in recipes which even the most novice cook could make using store-cupboard and easy to source ingredients. As well as promoting the amazing hospitality trade in the area, ‘Rutland Steady Cook!’ had many benefits, including:

  • Reigniting a passion for cooking meals from scratch at home, rather than relying on convenience food
  • Increasing awareness and use of local produce
  • A greater understanding of food provenance
  • Connecting people through their love of food
  • Inviting everyone to participate and feel part of something bigger
  • Bringing families together around the dinner table to share meals.

Cuddle Card Competition

At a time when we couldn’t meet and hug those we love, we invited all our social media followers to enter a competition to design a ‘Cuddle Card’. Clearly lots of our loyal followers were keen to share a ‘virtual hug’ with friends and family; we received so many amazing designs that we just couldn’t choose one winner and ended up with FIVE! A huge WELL DONE to budding artists; Lola, Sophia, Twyla, Daniel and Joseph. You all deserve a job at the Home of the Ridiculously Creative!

2.6 Challenge for Railway Children

Nimble Media took part in the 2.6 Challenge, an initiative launched to fill the funding gap (or rather, abyss) which opened up when The London Marathon (aka ‘the world’s biggest one-day fundraising event’) was cancelled.

Inspiring people from all over the UK to come up with challenges of their choice, it seized our imaginations here at the Home of the Ridiculously creative; some ran for 2.6 minutes, cycled 26 miles, baked 26 cookies and even tried on 26 fancy dress costumes, all to raise vital funds for Railway Children.

Railway Children’s services help vulnerable children who are alone and at risk on the streets and railways of the world. The dangers created in the wake of Covid-19 mean that the charity’s work is even more urgently needed. Over the last 22 years, Railway Children has helped over 300,000 street children. Now, more than ever, the charity is a vital lifeline.

The pandemic forced the cancellation of its biggest annual fundraiser, the Railway Ball, so if you’d like to make a contribution or find out more about this amazing cause, visit the website.

Clapping for Carers

Every Thursday evening, we were proud to join with the rest of the nation in showing our sincere appreciation for the incredible work and bravery of our amazing NHS staff by clapping for carers. Nimble Media continues to salute the NHS as the real heroes on the frontline of the fight against #Covid19 – it’s so important to let them know how grateful we are.

WR Reverse Advent Calendar

As the impact of the coronavirus pandemic continues, vulnerable people and families are struggling to provide for their loved ones even more than ever. Charities seeking to support these families are finding it harder too; The Trussell Trust, for example, forecast a 61% increase in food parcels needed across its UK Foodbank network from October to December. That is six parcels handed out every minute.

Nimble Media has been taking part in the Reverse Advent Calendar initiative which was launched by Women in Rail in November; as well as being a tangible way to support struggling local families we have been promoting the initiative via social media to encourage our lovely loyal followers to join in.

Supporting local teams

Throughout 2020, Nimble Media has continued to sponsor local grassroots sport, including Barrowden Cricket Club and Oakham Rugby Football Club. Here’s hoping next year’s fixtures can go ahead without getting stumped. Ahem.

As much as we love ‘sharing the love’ with each other, our suppliers, our clients and with the wider community, the Nimble team LOVES to get its teeth into new clients’ projects and deliver outstanding results.
